Oil for the Lamp

For coordinators and leaders

Oil for the Lamp needs no new curriculum. It needs a coordinator, a safeguarding lead and a few steady mentors.

What a coordinator does

Invites

Create invite codes by role and language, with an expiry. Revoke them. There is no open sign-up.

Mentor gates

Track each applicant through the five gates. A mentor becomes active only when all five are done.

Matching board

Match by language, the women-with-women and men-with-men rule, capacity and time zone. Propose, confirm, re-match.

Overview and export

Mentees by stage, contact rhythm kept, the share reaching stabilization, the share of new mentoring done by graduates, and open safeguarding cases as a count. Export as a CSV with no names.

The safeguarding lead

A separate person sees the case list: every concern raised with the "I'm worried" button and every message flagged for being sent outside 7 AM to 9 PM. They acknowledge new cases within 24 hours, keep escalation notes, can read the message thread of a flagged match, and can pause a match.

What leaders see

Totals only. The export holds counts and percentages, never names, notes or anything about one person. Leaders who want to know more talk with the coordinator.

Status

The framework is fully written down. A pilot, mentor recruitment and launch wait on leadership review. Until then the app runs as a public demonstration with invented data, and coordinators issue pilot invitations only when a pilot is agreed.
